Week 15!!

Tuesday, January 27, 2009

Here's the 15 week bump..and one with my shirt down. I got my first stranger comment last week already....so my bump is definitely growing!

Nothing too new this week. We had a doctor's appt last Friday. The heartbeat is still going strong and my weight and blood pressure are right on track.

We scheduled our BIG ultrasound for February 25th. At this appt they will do the anatomy scan (looking for any defects, downs, spina bifida, etc.). They will also see if our little baby is a boy or a girl. At this point, I don't care either way...I just want to know!

Here's a sneak peek at what Ryan has been working on for the last week. He's building our baby a changing table modeled after this one that JcPenny's sells. I can't paste the picture in here, so here's a link for those interested.

Here's Ryan's start. It will eventually be painted white like the one at Penny's.

14 Weeks, President Obama, and 24 Years!

Tuesday, January 20, 2009

First, we'll start off with baby related news. Here is this week's bump. It has definitely grown in the last week. People at work were able to notice a bit yesterday. I've officially upgraded it to baby bump, and no longer considered it pregnancy bloat.

Mom, grandma, and I went shopping for some more maternity clothes this past weekend since I only had one pair of pants that was comfortable to wear. We went to Motherhood Maternity and I spent about 2 hours trying stuff on. The trip was pretty successful, as I came away with 3 dress pants, some awesome jeans, and a bunch of shirts.

In other news, we get a new president today. It almost seems a bit unreal that this day has finally come. I was only 16 when Bush was originally sworn in, and today, I am 24. Happy birthday to me! I don't think I could ask for a better present---Barack Obama is our new president. Today is filled with excitement, with 14 weeks and my growing bump coming in at number one on my list, the inauguration at number two, and finally, my birthday.

Week 13!

Thursday, January 15, 2009

My week 13 update is a bit late, but here's this week's bump picture. I don't notice much of difference since last week. I am now officially in my second trimester...I think. My doctor said it was after 12 completed weeks, some websites and books get really technical and divide 40 weeks by 3, which means the second tri starts at 13 weeks, 3 days, and still others say that it's after 13 completed weeks. Since all of that is too confusing, I'm just going with what my doctor said and putting myself in the second tri now.

My doctor also told me I'm kind of in "no man's land" right now. I'm feeling better, but I may not "pop" until 17/18/19ish weeks, and I won't really be feeling the baby move until around that time either. Thus, since I don't really look or feel pregnant, she dubbed these next few weeks as "no man's land".

Other than that, not much else is new on the pregnancy front. We've started looking at cribs online and at Babies R Us to kinda see what's out there, but most things we like are too expensive.

We still have about 7 weeks left until we can find out the sex, but I'm getting anxious. I want to pick out the baby's name and buy cute little clothes!

Baby Purchases!

Monday, January 12, 2009
Here are a few things that we have bought so far for the baby. Obviously we don't know the baby's sex yet, but we will be finding out. Until then, we (or, better, I) have picked up this "gender neutral" stuff.

I bought this two pack of onesies the day I found out. I gave the "I love Daddy" one to Ryan when I told him we were pregnant.

I bought this Christmas outfit from Target on clearance. Both the sleeper and the booties say "Mommy's Little Joy". This will be one of the baby's Christmas outfits for his/her's first Christmas.

My second set of purchases came from none other than the Twins Pro Shop. My child will be wearing this hat and booties even if she's a girl. They had the same things in pink, but I hate pink Twins stuff. The Twins' colors are red and blue, not pink and white. Either way, our baby will probably have more Twins clothes than I do---which is saying a lot.

Week 12 Bump

Tuesday, January 6, 2009
Here's this week's bump picture. I notice a difference, but I'm still not sure it's baby yet. I think the baby is still pretty low for me to be showing, but we'll see. If it just keeps growing, I think we'll have our answer. If not, I'm still bloated...

And an update to yesterday's post--I definitely had a bug. I felt 90% better today. When I did have morning sickness I never felt as sick as I felt yesterday, so I'm going with the 24 hour bug.

Week 12: Morning Sickness is back?

Monday, January 5, 2009
This is my last week in the first trimester. All of my books told me morning sickness usually gets better around this time. I thought I was blessed to only have to endure nausea for about 3 weeks with no vomiting. It had been gone for a while.

Apparently, my morning sickness is back with a vengeance--and it brought vomiting with it. Since I've only thrown up a handful of times since I was 6, I'm not excited about it. Maybe I caught the stomach flu bug--who knows. All I know is I had to come home from work today because I felt so sick.

A new bump picture will be posted later when I feel better.

The baby is the size of a plum this week. As I move into the second trimester, the baby shifts into the growth and maturation stage. After weeks in the critical development stage, almost all of baby's systems are fully formed.
