Happy 2nd Birthday Henry!

Wednesday, August 3, 2011
Here come the photos!

We started the morning with presents! Loves his wagon!

IMG_0539

We got him a little bottle and dish set to "feed" his baby.

Showing off his little Donald Duck.

IMG_0523

We got him the wagon as his "big" present, and then a bunch of little things. There was just about more excitement for all the little things, including this Thomas the Train placemat.

IMG_0530

And this $4.99 broom...easily his favorite new toy.

IMG_0526

Cuteness.

IMG_0522

Daddy practicing up for baby duties again.

IMG_0555

More excitement.

After presents, we went out to breakfast at the Original Pancake House in Eden Prairie. We figured for a kid who mostly loves his pancakes, french toast and waffles, why bother with dinner when you can go out to breakfast??

Henry ordered this:

IMG_0579

That is a child sized meal of chocolate chip pancakes. (But I suppose when they say child, they are likely thinking of a 7-9 year old child).

IMG_0583

IMG_0575

Less whipped cream in this picture. It's in his belly. It was the only part he wanted to eat at first.

IMG_0583

IMG_0586

Not wanting a picture with mommy, per usual.

IMG_0568

Studying the kid's menu.

IMG_0567

Cuteness.

After breakfast, we took him over to the mall to see his first movie in the movie theater. We went to 1 hour and 3 minute long Winnie the Pooh. He did fairly well. The last 10 minutes his attention was focused on jumping up and down on the chair. We won't be taking him again any time soon, but it was a fun birthday experience for our little family. He kept saying "Ooh Bear movie" all morning and 10 minutes into the actual movie.

He was occupied for a good 30 minutes with the popcorn.

Being cute after his nap that day.

A few more presents after daddy came home from work.

IMG_0628

The homemade digger came from Chris and Kelly!

IMG_0627

You can see how much this child loves diggers.

After Henry went to bed, I attempted to bake his cakes.

Friday morning, they ended up here.

IMG_0644

Cakes need to be properly baked. Or they have that goo in the middle...imagine that. Not very stackable with goo in the middle.

Henry wondering why I was throwing away perfectly good "choc-choc".

Friday morning, I baked again. And thanks to Grandpa Tom coming over, spent all afternoon decorating.

Saturday was his birthday party with all of our family. Grandmas and Grandpas, Great Grandmas, Great Grandpa and all of his uncles and aunts were there to help celebrate.

Oh...that cake.

Home-made cake and frosting, store bought fondant, decorated by me. Star letters at the top were also handmade by me, as well as the TWO letters.

I'm a wedding photographer. I'm into these details...so you see a lot of photos of them.

IMG_0661

Oh how I trusted him.

IMG_0828

He really liked his "happy dir-day" cake.

IMG_0830

Though we were unsuccessful in getting a smile out of him for the family photo.

IMG_0838

IMG_0837

IMG_0833

Other details. Handmade birthday banner, Mickey Mouse cookies, and the 1st year collage (on the right) and the new second year collage (on the left). I also put up an 8 x 10 of the invitation photo and his Mickey. Kept it simple.

Hahaha.

IMG_0841

We opened lots of presents. A new basketball hoop.

IMG_0769

A little tikes grill set.

IMG_0803

A new trike.

IMG_0781

He was pretty proficient at opening presents this year.

IMG_0752

Favorite new book (and he got lots of books). Leave it to the other teacher in the family to find the perfect book. We've read it many, many times already Auntie Liz.

IMG_0789

A new scooter and helmet.

IMG_0758

Untitled-5

A new bedtime buddy.

IMG_0792

IMG_0794

IMG_0783

Being silly.

IMG_0768

IMG_0760

We sang "happy dir-day" more than once.

We ate cake.

IMG_0847

IMG_0845

IMG_0851

And we ate cookies.

IMG_0808

Eating his "hamburger". At least he pretends to eat one.

IMG_0777

And then we hung out with all the family and our new toys. As the day went on, he became more tired and crabbier by the minute, so there was no way there'd be many structured photo ops...thus, despite wanting to get a picture of him with each of the family members, I didn't get one of everyone, so my apologies. Also, my internet has been spotty this entire time I've been trying to do this, so between going back and forth between this and my hosting site, I may have forgotten a picture or two.

Thank you to EVERYONE who came, all the wonderful presents (he's played with everything multiple times...he loves all of it!) We really appreciate being able to celebrate Henry's birthday with everyone and that he got to spend time with all of his favorite people.

Finally, the multiple times we sang "Happy Dir-Day" over the two days. When I showed him a video from last year, he cried and cried. And in the days leading up to it when I tried to sing it, he wanted me to stop. He did that a bit in the first part of the video, but after that, he seemed to like the attention.

I hope you enjoyed the post. You should probably get up and go to the bathroom now...or get back to work.
