Finally. I finally got this shot that I have been dying to get since Claire has been home. Henry has wanted nothing to do with pictures in general lately, let alone with Claire. My trick today? I gave him the remote to my camera and he thought he was taking all the pictures. The first set I took were more twinkle light pictures.

Not sure how they will look on your computers (on my working computer in the basement they looked perfect, on our old craptastic macbook, they look way too bright). As an FYI, you are supposed to see blurry white christmas lights in the background (to somewhat mimic snow).

Then, about an hour later, Henry asked to take more pictures. The following was the result of that request. Oh how thankful I am that he let me take these. I will love these forever.

This one got quite a bit of love on facebook.

Baking, Santa, and a little Elf.

Monday, November 28, 2011
Because of limited time, I simply can't devote entire posts to entire sets of photos. So, this post has a little bit of everything from the past couple days.

First, Henry and I were busy baking last Wednesday for Thanksgiving. We made delicious chocolate chip pumpkin bread and a peanut butter/chocolate pie. I wish I had taken a picture of the final product. The pie was amazing (at least it was if you like peanut butter/chocolate/Reese's types of things--which happen to be my favorite). Yum! Henry helped from start to finish.

These few pictures of him in his Santa jammies make up for not getting any posed shots in them the other day.

Words can't describe how much I love the next three photos.

So excited to be stirring!

Attack of the cool whip!

Yesterday, Claire and I tried the popular twinkle lights background. Didn't turn out too bad, but I didn't get any of her looking content (she looked crabby in all of them). I'll try again this week, and likely with a white background too.

IMG_1096

I will try to devote another post to this, but I can't wait to share this one. We saw the big guy yesterday. Henry was willing to go up in his sleigh, but didn't want to sit on his lap or even next to him. At least no tears were shed. :) Look at how cute the little man is. Claire had no issues.

AND....

Santa's elf.

The hat? Made by Grandma "Tarnen". Maybe she'll open an etsy shop someday.

The only way I can catch them together is to be sneaky. He didn't know I was taking a picture.

A pretty perfect shirt I found at Target yesterday.

Fun slideshow posted below.

10 Years!

10 years ago, fresh off returning from our marching band trip to Disney World, I sat at the computer chatting away on the then popular "ICQ" instant messaging system. I was instant messaging with the boy I had just spent the entire trip with, including sharing the bus seat on the brutal 30 hour bus ride. I knew I liked him (a lot), and I knew he liked me. Rumors unfortunately spread a bit, as I may have specifically ended the relationship I was in previous to this one right before the start of the trip. Looking back 10 years, I couldn't be happier that I followed my heart and disregarded all other opinions. The contents of this video is proof to that. How did this boy ask me to be his? There are a two examples in the video, the first at the opening clip.

This may only be our "dating anniversary" (which we stopped officially celebrating after we got married). However, despite being married for slightly less than half that time, it's still a big deal to me. 10 years is a long time when you are only 26 years old. A quick calculation reveals that I have spent nearly 40% of my life with the man I am lucky enough to call my husband.

Looking back, I'm sure there were some that didn't take us seriously, but here we are, 10 years later, living an amazing life.

In 10 years we have lived apart for a year, acquired 4 college degrees between the two of us, traveled/vacationed, got married, built a house, started 2.5 careers and have brought 2 children into this world (and 2 dogs into our home). The past 10 years have been busy, and I can't wait to see what the next 10 years will bring.

The video is missing the first year, as everything was still on film back then and I don't have the time to find and scan those pictures. Someday maybe. Also, when rifling through all my folders it appears we barely took photos of anything other than my baby bump during the time I was pregnant with Henry, and the photos of us overall completely dwindled once we had kids.

More cuteness!

Round one of Christmas-themed sessions. Henry was supposed to be involved as well, but no bribe of a toy, sucker, cookie or anything would have him sitting where I needed him too. I'll try again another day.

So, enjoy Baby Claire and all her cuteness.

Piano time, tummy time, and snow!

Monday, November 21, 2011
A quick few from the past few days.

Thursday we had a play date. One of our new(er) neighbors has a little boy who will be 2 very soon, and a baby girl on the way this spring. It's so exciting to see so many new little kids in the neighborhood. Hartley and Henry took some time to serenade us on the piano.

Yesterday Henry and I went out to play in the snow. He was much more excited about it this year and LOVED having me pull him around in the sled. He told daddy "Mommy a silly driver" because I kept dumping him out when we turned. The giggles were too cute.

Despite coming down with whatever Claire had, he sure had fun and definitely did not want to go in.

And then today, Claire did this.

Life is beautiful.

Sunday, November 20, 2011
Last week was tough. You read my post about Henry getting away from me in a busy parking lot. 2 days later Claire was in the ER (likely for just a cold, but still scary to hear her choking on gunk and needing to take her in).

Despite all that and one other thing I won't discuss yet, life is beautiful.

because of these two.

Claire's first real smile on the right, caught on camera on Friday. Henry's rare smile for the camera on the left.

Side by side comparison--both around 6 weeks of age with their first smiles.

And a quick sneak peek at these. There aren't many more from yesterday's quick session, but I was able to get the one good shot of everyone needed for the Christmas card.

IMG_0657

And then there were four.

Friday, November 18, 2011
Backtracking to the day we became a family of four. I finally got back to these pictures a few days ago and hopefully will slowly make my way through the last month before I get way behind after all the Christmas themed sessions I *hope* to do.

Remember this one?

IMG_9315

He's so cute in the scrubs :)

IMG_9360

Whoever took the picture didn't realize they had to back up a bit more. That's the tragedy of having a nice camera. Not a whole lot of people you pass it off to know how to use it.

IMG_9359

Pretty sure the husband took this one. Love.

 I'm cold! Where am I?!

Much better. Not a fan of all these bright lights though.

Footprints. They asked if we wanted this done. Apparently it's not standard at our hospital. And they put them on a random piece of white paper. No fancy document or anything. We unfortunately don't have Henry's. They never asked about it and I didn't think about it until after we left the hospital with him.
