It's the most wonderful time of the year!

Tuesday, December 27, 2011
Despite the brown Christmas we all faced this year, it was still the most wonderful time of the year. Henry's excitement and understanding of what will be our own family traditions was so fun to watch these past few weeks. I love Christmas, but sadly, it's all over. It comes and goes so fast. Claire was obviously not into much except her usual cycle of eating, pooping and sleeping...next year will be different!

Since Christmas threw up toys and toys and toys all over our main floor/living room, we chose to take the tree and decorations down today, in order to restore some sense of organization into our home.

Back to Christmas. Here it is in photos.

First up was my family last weekend.

This kid loves clothes.

He was way too occupied with presents to ever give me a decent smile.

Fake cheese.

IMG_9994

I don't know what they are so excited about, but it must be good.

Jake--Text me if you actually see this.

My pretty baby!

IMG_9975

My husband got a new recliner. Ask him when he noticed.

IMG_9972

GG came too!

Grandma and Claire.

We made yummy chicken wings that day and opened presents all afternoon. Henry, of course, needed to have every thing opened and out of the box after he unwrapped it.

The day before Christmas Eve, we put together our first gingerbread house. I picked this baby up for $5.00 on a Target end cap. Can't go wrong with that. Henry loved it!

Not only is daddy starting to know his way around my camera, so is Auntie Liz. :) So thankful to have family photos that I am in!

Ryan had to test the frosting and make sure it was quality frosting.

Auntie Liz shared her detail oriented skill set with us.

IMG_0268

Supervising daddy's work.

IMG_0277

Hamming it up.

IMG_0293

Should I just take a big bite?!

Then, it was Christmas Eve. That meant presents. We started at 3pm and didn't officially end until today (Claire had a number of things that never got opened until today).

Attempting more family photos. I like the goofy ones.

Santa himself even stopped by for a visit!

IMG_0447

Neither Henry or Santa could be bothered to look at the camera. Jingle bells were much more entertaining.

IMG_0448

This Santa got a hug.

IMG_0454

I guess he knew Grandma.

IMG_0465

Look up the words wonder, amazement, and awe in the dictionary. You will see this picture in all three places.

When we woke up, Santa had left this in front of the tree!

Giggle. This one makes me laugh. Christmas morning Belgian Waffles. I spent probably 2 hours preparing this mix the night before. Never again.

IMG_0551

Guess what Santa brought Ryan. A video game? Money? Gift cards? No, no, and no. A ticket to a beer fest. Nothing could be more exciting!

IMG_0549

After spending the morning playing with our new toys it was off to Great Grandma and Great Grandpa Bennett's house.

I'm sorry for the lack of narative in the post, but it's past midnight, and I'm tired. I didn't even upload videos yet!

Thank you to everyone who made our Christmas season, again, full of memories we will never forget. Christmas with kids is pretty fantastic. :)
